Thanks Charlie. I appreciate you reaching out and commenting. This happened last year so still fresh. Itβs part of my grief journey. Putting it on the stack is a positive step. π
Your writing always moves me, but this one hit especially hard. The honesty and rawness here, the way you donβt look away from pain or strip it of its complexity, makes the poem both difficult and necessary to read. Thank you for trusting us with the heaviness and for showing that even in the bleakest spaces, real feeling and connection remain. Iβm grateful for your words and the courage it takes to share them.
Thank you Sunshine. This was a tough , but necessary poem to write. Itβs been in me for months waiting to get out and I wasnβt sure to put it here. But I trusted my instincts and that the people here would support me. And they have not let me down. This happened last year and is part of my grieving process. Cancer is just so universal, and so awful. I also hoped it would resonate with other people, as well as helping me heal. π
Thank you so much for sharing your story and for trusting us with something so close to your heart. I can only imagine how hard it must have been to write this, and to put it out into the world. But Iβm really glad you did. Thereβs something so powerful about seeing someone put words to an experience that so many of us have felt, but canβt always express. Your poem doesnβt just honor your mother, it gives the rest of us a space to feel, too. Sending you kindness and support as you continue to heal π
Iβm so sorry, D. Youβve communicated something profound here that many of us are dealing with. Iβm going through something similar with my mom and as difficult as itβs been, itβs also an amazing time that has changed me, and I think Iβve grown as a person. I know that some dark days are ahead for me, but I also know that this is the point at which my life begins to have meaning. A closing of the circle. Thank u for this, D
That means a lot to me that it connected with you. And finding something positive within the dark, is so important. Otherwise the whole thing can just crush you. Stay strong. And Iβm sure your mom is thankful sheβs got you. If you wanna dump. Send me a message. And big hug for mom. β€οΈ
Thank you for the comment! I really appreciate people reaching out. Yeah. Itβs heavy. But I felt I had to put it out. This all happened last year. I think stuff like this helps.
Itβs not much. Iβve really no idea what to say. But your poem had a profound effect on me. I can really see so much of what you are writing terrifyingly clearly.
Yeah. Cancer is a terrible horrible experience for everyone involved. Even in remission it's just crushing for everyone. And the endless docs appointments through the post. and often two hospitals don't know what the other is doing. Oh Lord!πβ€οΈ
I read this from the other side. Not as the person sitting beside the bed, but as the one lying in it. It made me realise how differently the same corridors are remembered. The details rang painfully true, but I kept thinking about the silent conversations patients have with themselves, the ones no one else ever hears because we're too busy trying to make everyone else believe we'll be okay. XX Brilliant.
Thank you for your comment Eira. Yes I can only imagine what mum, and you thought about lying in that hospital bed. I imagine a lot of it is filled with death and guilt. Mum felt guilty for being ill and having me look after her. Nothing i could say changed her mind. Those long hours days and night, whilst the hospital noises (horrible and loud ) continue. Hmm. Iβm dreading ever being that ill. Just because of going into hospital.
Yes extremely difficult to watch someone you love go that way. I looked after my dad at his home and watched him go he was lucky to be able to be at home or stubborn one or the two. You donβt get to say a proper good bye ever I think. So iβve done it from both sides and the other side not pleasant at all but being so helpless watching someone is even worse. Life is very cruel sometimes. I want to go in my sleep not knowing anything if I am lucky.
This is a tough one. Very powerful. Well done. It couldn't have been easy channeling all that

And sorry for your loss. I hope the creative outlet helps a little bit.
Thank you for the comment! I really appreciate people reaching out. Yeah. Itβs heavy. But I felt I had to put it out. This all happened last year. I think stuff like this helps.
Great work, heavy stuff.
So sorry you lost your mother this way, but not sorry at all that you shared it here in such a visceral and moving poem. π€
Thank for the comment Nancy. I appreciate it. Really glad you liked the poem!!

My condolences Daniil
Thanks Mr Abisi. This happened last year. But I appreciate the comment! π
The words isolated seem so innocent yet they are not, the sentences isolated are simple yet the tone isnβt - love this duality. Great poem Daniil!
Thanks Ciphera! Glad you enjoyed the poem. I appreciate it. π€π
Cancer really sucks. I lost my mother to it. It was a terrible process.
Oh sorry to hear that! yeah itβs awful. Just awful. And so widespread. π
I am so sorry, Daniil. Definitely felt this one. Well written as always!
Thanks Cynthia. Iβm glad youβve commented. I appreciate it!π
Daniil. What pain. You translate it perfectly. I am so very sorry for you and your family.
Thank you for your comment Louise πβ€οΈ

Heartbreaking and oh, the anger is so relatable. My love to you DF π€
Thank you Suzie. I appreciate the comment. And I hope you are doing okay. And your body isnβt being too annoying.

I agree Eira. In your sleep and sudden is the best way. For you, but also the people around you.
Better than anything I've done about my Mom, but makes me want to repair the hole in my soul. Sorry for your loss, Daniil.
Thank you Kenneth. I appreciate your comments. And Iβm sure your poetry about your mother is fine. A grief journey takes many paths.
